Who we are looking for
A Junior Development Database Administrator (DBA) who will join a tried and tested development programme, with targeted study an exercises to enhance their current skills.
The Development Database Administration team are specialists in the transformation, movement and storage of data across many exciting technologies. They produce business critical data systems, pushing SQL Server databases to their limits and leveraging other suitable technologies as required. These may be .NET languages, Golang, NOSQL storage in RIAK with retrieval by Erlang logic.
DBAs are performance experts; every millisecond counts in the running of our website. The team also offer architectural guidance to development teams in the field of data, as well as help manage the quality of database work across the business. DBAs manage database code releases and are responsible for the high performance of code. Working in a hugely demanding data environment with many thousands of transactions taking place every second, the opportunities to develop as a data professional with us are second to none.
The team are heavily involved in technical functions key to the running of our website. We are responsible for crucial elements of many areas from content delivery, to bet placement, to supporting regulated international markets and more.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Preferred skills and experience
Enthusiastic individual, keen to work in a technically challenging environment.
Good communicator.
Keen interest in data.
Strong academic background including a minimum 2.1 Hons degree in a Science, Engineering, Mathematics or IT related discipline and strong A Levels.
Logical thinker.
Creative problem solver.
Main Responsibilities
Developing the skills you need to succeed as a data professional within our systems development team.
Helping resolve problems, troubleshoot SQL and other data related code.
Becoming an expert in database administration, maintenance and support.
Supporting the day to day running of high performance databases.
Using performance tuning SQL code, delving into the internals of the query optimizer.
Working with non-database technologies to build and enhance a wide range of in-house applications.
Collaborating with other development teams to identify and resolve website issues.
Utilising data movement technologies such as replication and integration services.
Contributing ideas to improve data systems.
